Warrior Cats: Lake Territory is a Roblox roleplay and animal simulator developed by the group WarriorCatsRP. To play, create a feline morph adhering to nature-themed naming conventions, choose between peaceful Roleplay Mode or resource-focused Survival Mode, and interact with the lake territories using basic keyboard inputs for hunting, foraging, and Clan life. The beta build costs 99 Robux to access and hosts up to 65 players per server across the four canonical lake Clans: ThunderClan, ShadowClan, WindClan, and RiverClan.
Game Modes and Survival Mechanics
When finishing a cat morph in the character editor, the game prompts you to select your gameplay mode:
- Roleplay Mode: A peaceful option where your cat is unaffected by environmental hazards, hunger, or thirst.
- Survival Mode: Enables active stat tracking for Health, Hunger, and Thirst. Running around depletes thirst and hunger, while swimming in cold fronts or jumping into ravines causes broken legs, chills, and illness. If your cat is poisoned or starving, your health ticks down gradually but stops at 1% health. The game prevents character death to protect ongoing roleplays.
Drinking directly from rivers or using water-soaked moss restores Thirst. Eating caught prey satisfies Hunger, while resting in dens and receiving herbs from a medicine cat restores physical ailments.
Core Controls and Keybind Shortcuts
Interacting with the world requires several dedicated keybinds on PC:
- V: Collect, gather, or pick up items (prey, herbs, sticks, and moss) and store them in Clan fresh-kill or medicine dens.
- Z: Toggles Scent Vision, highlighting scents and nearby prey with an on-screen glow.
- G: Toggles your cat's claws out.
- I: Triggers a hiss and defensive scratching pose.
If your character gets stuck in a sitting pose or morph animation, open the menu, head to Normal Settings, and click Animation Debug. Wait three seconds for your model to reset. On public servers, you can also type !rejoin in chat if your jumping breaks entirely.
Character Creation and Clan Rules
The game enforces strict roleplay rules regarding morph designs and naming:
- Cat Only: Non-cat models (such as foxes or wolves) are prohibited.
- Nature-Based Names: Clan names must stem from nature. Clan cats cannot be named after human foods, drinks, man-made objects, or artificial materials.
- Prefix and Suffix Rules: Two cats in the same Clan can share a prefix, but they cannot share a suffix. You may never use rank-denoting suffixes (
-kit,-paw,-star) as prefixes. - No Canon Duplicates: You cannot copy both the name and exact visual morph of an official book character.
- Family Rules: Transgender cats may adopt kits in roleplay, but cannot have biological kits after transitioning.
- No Inappropriate Content: Graphic gore, cannibalism, power-playing (dodging endlessly, one-hit kills), and self-harm are strictly bannable offenses. Eating deathberries voluntarily is classified as self-harm under server rules.
- Combat Etiquette: Random Death Match (RDM) is banned. You must warn an opponent before attacking in-character, and you cannot permanently harm or kill another player without their explicit permission. The only exception is the Auto-Kill rule, which Clan warriors may enact after an outsider initiates three separate hostile confrontations inside a Clan camp.
Hunting and Fresh-Kill
Prey items actively spawn across territories and can flee or make distinct sounds:
- Mice: Commonly found near camp entrances, hollow logs, and around the Twoleg Barn (Horseplace).
- Rabbits: Quick-moving targets found in open fields across WindClan and lake borders.
- Frogs: Often found in the marshy waters and muddy ponds of ShadowClan territory.
- Birds and Squirrels: Found near tree bases and forest floors; birds will jump into the air when approached quickly.
- Fish: Can be gathered in RiverClan watercourses or retrieved from camp piles.
To hunt, toggle Scent Vision (Z) to detect green visual trails. Drop into a crouch (C) and creep up to the creature before holding or pressing V to seize it. Prey can either be consumed immediately to replenish your Hunger meter or carried back to drop in your Clan's fresh-kill pile.
Herb Gathering and Medicine Cat Guide
Medicine cats gather herbs across the territories to store in camp shelves. Certain plants require specific handling items or preparation steps:
| Herb / Item | Visual Description | Location & Sourcing | Roleplay & Survival Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Borage | Blue-flowered plant | Forest territories / ThunderClan | Relieves fever. |
| Marigold | Bright golden flower | Widespread across all territories | Heals scratches and wounds. Can be chewed into a poultice before applying. |
| Stick | Large fallen wood on ground | Forest floors and tunnel outskirts | Required in hand to gather cobwebs. Can be broken to lower stress. |
| Cobwebs | Found in caves and hollows | Requires a Stick to gather | Treats weak scratches and stabilizes broken legs. |
| Burdock Root | Leafy plume close to dirt | Near abandoned Twoleg nests | Cures rat bites; slow respawn cycles. |
| Juniper Berries | Bush with bright blue specks | Hillsides and WindClan borders | Soothes nerves, increases strength, and relieves stomach aches. |
| Catmint | Low green leaves | Near the abandoned Twoleg nest | Treats whitecough. |
| Chamomile | Low flowering leaves | Outskirts and trail paths | Traveling herb; provides high energy and strength. |
| Poppy Seeds | Pink poppy flower heads | Open fields and hills | Shake the flower to drop 2 seeds. Eases pain and helps cats sleep. |
| Honey | Found inside tree trunks | Requires holding Moss to extract | Soothes sore throats and calms severe coughs. |
| Tansy | Clustered yellow blooms | Near Twoleg Barn and fence lines | Alternative cure for sore throats and coughs. |
| Yarrow | White flower cluster | Fields near RiverClan and Barn | Induces vomiting; expels poisons (such as deathberry ingestion). |
| Moss | Green ground patches | Dens and damp shaded slopes | Soaked in water to hydrate elders/kits, or used to scoop honey. |
| Deathberries | Bushes with faint red specks | Twoleg barn fence, Moonpool rocks, ShadowClan ponds | Highly toxic poison. Only permitted for antagonistic roleplay plots; voluntary ingestion is prohibited. |
| Mouse Bile | Gathered liquid item | Medicine dens | Purely aesthetic/roleplay tool. Ticks were removed from the game to reduce server lag. |
Note: Certain herbs listed in the game's reference menu (such as Feverfew and Lamb's-ear) and the SkyClan gorge do not exist in the active map.
Territory Landmarks and the Moonpool
The game recreates the lake territories without SkyClan:
- The Island: The central Gathering site situated in the middle of the lake, reachable by swimming or crossing the RiverClan stepping stones. Clan leaders convene on the high rock ledge.
- The Moonpool: Situated inside a hollowed stone cavern beneath a cliffside waterfall, reached by following the northern river boundary upstream between WindClan and ThunderClan borders. Leaders and medicine cats travel through the tunnel entrance to share dreams with StarClan.
- The Twoleg Barn (Horseplace): A neutral countryside location with fences and haystacks. Loners and rogues often gather here to avoid Clan patrols, and catmint grows along its perimeter.
